2 November, 2019 – 26 January, 2020

Kasteyev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Pygmalion Gallery present the Pygmalion Gallery’s Rarities exhibition.

The art masters of Europe and Asia enter into a symbolic dialogue and overcome time and space. The history of art is defined by artists whose discoveries were turning points in world art culture. Visitors will have a rare chance to get in touch with iconic names in the history of art and enjoy the best pieces from the private collection of the Pygmalion Gallery, which has been forming for more than a quarter of a century. Eastern art is represented by a collection of works of masters of the Japanese Ukiyo-e engraving, including Utagawa Hiroshige, Utagawa Kunisada, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Toyohara Kunichika, and others.

The works of the masters reflect the key range of aesthetic, philosophical, and artistic searches run by outstanding masters of the West and the East from the Renaissance to modernity. Subsequently, their discoveries were a turning point for the world of art. The exhibition is going to become a benchmark for 2019-20 years in the cultural scene of Almaty city.
