«Rooms of Silence» Sayan Baygaliev

May 24 - June 24 2023

The first solo exhibition of the young artist Sayan Baygaliev, who has often represented Kazakhstan on the international art scene, is opening in Astana. Sayan Baygaliev experiments with volumetric forms, expanding the space of the canvas and embodying the works, which are on the borders between sculpture, installation, and painting. The central place in his work is taken by everyday life, where the familiar objects and interiors of panel apartments acquire a different symbolic reading. The house in the artist's works becomes a portrait of its inhabitants and a metaphor for identity. In his works Sayan invites the viewer to look into personal space, blurring the boundaries between public and private, frankly telling his autobiographical story. Silence becomes the background for many of Sayan's subjects, immersing them in an atmosphere of solitude, eliminating the noise of the outside world, and inviting contemplation of simple things that usually escape from our attention.
